First opened in 2015, Shaanxi Gourmet is a restaurant, offering authentic Chinese cuisine from north China. We come from the city of Xi'an, a historical city with Terracotta Army in it.
The restaurant has an antique tone based on the ancient culture and food of Xi’an, highlighting the features of “Shaanxi Gourmet”. It not only provides opportunities for the Shaanxi fellows who are abroad to taste the delicacies of their hometown, but also makes it possible for the other Chinese in America to enjoy the Shaanxi gourmet. Furthermore, with the ancient historical and cultural customs of China, we want to build our own characteristics to gradually expand the influence of the Shaanxi and even the Chinese food culture.
The Cuisine of Xi’an
China’s Shaanxi Province is known for its terra cotta army, built in the 11th century B.C. in the city of Xi’an (one of the oldest cities in China), as well as for its lamb- and noodle-heavy cuisine. At Shaanxi Gourmet, you’ll find truly authentic versions of Xi’an specialties that you won’t find in many other places in the United States. One of our best and most popular dishes is the lamb pao mo, a classic braised lamb and noodle combination with tiny cubes of unleavened bread, served with bowls of cilantro, chiles and pickled garlic.
